We learned on May 17th, GS9 affiliate, Rashid Derissant, was sentenced to 98 years in prison, after being found guilty of multiple charges including the murder of a rival teenage gang member.
Well now his co-defendant, Alex Crandon, has been sentenced to 53 years in prison after being charged with conspiracy, murder, & attempted murder. NYDailyNews states Crandon pleaded to the judge for a light sentence in order to become a productive citizen & raise his daughter, these pleas obviously didn’t move the judge. The judge stated to Crandon that he gave up the opportunity to enjoy life as a free man and it was really no reason to risk the safety of the public.
Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan agreed with the judge writing, “The residents of East Flatbush should feel safer, because the defendant will no longer be able to terrorize their streets.”
