Chris Brown is currently being detained and is under investigation by French authorities for rape charges. This would occur after a 24-year-old woman accused the singer of raping her earlier in the month, between Jan. 15-16th. According to the woman the incident with Brown took place at the Le Mandarin Oriental hotel. She would further state that Brown’s bodyguard and a friend engaged in the sexual abuse also.
A prosecuting source told the UK’s Evening Standard, “He is accused of a rape and is being held at the judicial police offices in the 1st arrondissement, […] He was arrested with two others on Monday, and interviews and other inquiries are ongoing. The offence is said to have taken place on the night of January 15 this year.” Another source stated, “A total of three men were arrested at Mr Brown’s hotel. They did not resist police, and now have lawyers representing them.” The singer will remain in police custody while investigators probe the situation.
It wasn’t too long ago that another American artist, Freddie Gibbs, found himself in a similar situation as Brown. Gibbs was arrested in France for an alleged rape that occurred in Austria. Though, Gibbs would be found not guilty and be released shortly afterwards.
Brown nor his team has yet comment on these new allegations.
