DJ Mustard “Cold Summer” Album Stream & Review

So far, it has been a successful year for DJ/Producer projects. DJ Esco dropped off his mixtape titled Project E.T., earlier this year. DJ Khaled also dropped his hit album Major Key recently as well. DJ Mustard has now dropped Cold Summer and he is definitely keeping this winning streak going. Like the other projects, the multi platinum producer rounded up a star studded cast to feature on his production.

Cold Summer offers a mix of gangster rap (thanks to YG), R&B, and of course some signature “Mustard On The Beat Hoe” club bangers. Mustard makes sure to keep it West Coast by having YG, Nipsey Hussle, and Ty Dolla $ign feature on a handful of tracks. Other all star features include Young Thug, Nicki Minaj, Jeremih, O.T. Genesis, Jeezy, Meek Mill, Quavo, Rich The Kid, Rick Ross, John Legend, and more.

One of the favorite tracks on iTunes right now is a weekend track titled Party. The song features YG and Young Thug. Thugga takes care of the hook and a verse giving it the authentic sound he’s created followed up by YGs native west coast sound. The mix makes for a self explanatory title and something to turn up to.

The main single off the album is Don’t Hurt Me featuring Nicki Minaj and Jeremih. This club banger is sure to hit all the radio stations for awhile. With electronic/techno type of production, Jeremih comfortably laces this track with some good bars and even better melodies. The Pink Print rapper herself doesn’t fail to impress as she puts down her signature, versatile style. Singing, rapping, dancing, clubbing, and sexing are the vibes from this song.

Great project all around. It is definitely worth the listen. Now hopefully we can get blessed with a DJ Drama project by the end of the year. Until then, stream Cold Summer below & be sure to purchase on iTunes.
