Jeezy’s “Trap Or Die 3” Album Review

Jeezy fans have waited a very long time to listen to the next installment of the Trap Or Die series. It’s been over six years. Since May 4, 2010 to be exact. The wait is finally over and it’s safe to say, it was worth the wait. Jeezy sticks to the script when it comes to his signature Atlanta sound. Beats that blow your speakers out, Jeezy’s gangster flow, hyped ad libs, it’s all here. Jeezy’s timing is impeccable with this release. In a time where old heads are fighting with the new generation, its nice to see an artist that has been able to consistently be himself for almost two decades while also adapting to the new cultural twist that hip hop has endured.

Being in the game as long as the Snowman has, it was easy to stack an unstoppable list of features. Some top tier names on the album include Lil Wayne, Yo Gotti, French Montana, Chris Brown, Plies, and the late great Bankroll Fresh. Production is undeniably important when creating a cohesive album. Jeezy let Shawty Redd and D. Rich handle most of that department. Mike Will Made It has a joint he produced on there as well as a few other producers.

Let Em Know was the first single released off TOD3. Produced by P.C., this record is a classic Jizzle display. Feeling yourself is a must when listening to this song. In the hook Jeezy starts with, “I’ma make these niggas get on they shit dog”. Which is basically him saying, his success and what he does makes these other rappers realize they need to step it up.

Jeezy dropped two other singles before the album release. One was titled All There and featured another ATL legend, Bankroll Fresh. Since Bankroll’s death, #LLBankroll has become a popular tag meaning “Long Live Bankroll.” Nice to see Jeezy honoring that hashtag. All There is a hustlers trap song that explains the drug dealer lifestyle in turn up fashion. The other single was Going Crazy featuring French Montana. Earthquake type of bass with a catchy hook. The Snowman and Coke Boy both have a style that mesh really well on D. Rich’s production. An iTunes favorite is the Lil Wayne featured track titled Bout That.

This album came at the right time. A large portion of albums dropped as of late, are only playable for about a week or so. Jeezy has a knack for creating classic and timeless music. The fans are really going to enjoy this one for awhile. Trap Or Die. Be sure to purchase & stream Jeezy’s Trap Or Die 3 here.
