Season four of a popular Netflix original series –Narcos, just might be on hold. It has been reported that Mexican location scout, Carlos Munoz Portal, was shot dead in central Mexico while scouting for the best area to shoot season four of Narcos.
Carlos Portal was a seasoned location scout for multiple motion pictures including Sicario, Spectre, Fast & Furious, and Apocalypto.
Netflix issued a statement after the murder of Portal stating, “We are aware of the passing of Carlos Munoz Portal, a well-respected location scout, and send our condolences to his family. The facts surrounding his death are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate.”
The mangled body of the scout was found with a numerous amount of gun shot wounds along with his car which was riddled with bullets. The location of the murder occurred near the borders of Hidalgo state which has the highest murder rate in Mexico. Authorities are having trouble figuring out what led to the murder being that witnesses are scarce.
Season 4 of Narcos was originally supposed to explore the origins of Mexico’s Juarez Cartel also known as the Vicente Carrillo Fuentes Organization which was founded in the 1970s. The last season of Narcos was based on the rise and fall of Columbia’s Cali Cartel which led to the shift of drug wars in Mexico.
There is no word at the moment on how the murder of Carlos Munoz Portal will effect season 4 but more details shall follow as this case continues.
