1/3 of Migos, Offset, was arrested and hit with felony gun charges recently when stopped by Atlanta police. Now the rapper’s lawyer is claiming he was targeted because he’s a famous black celebrity.
Offset’s lawyer Drew Findling spoke to TMZ and explained that the Migos rapper didn’t break any laws. He claims that the policeman who stopped Offset used a lane change issue as an excuse to pull him over. He would state, “It’s a common theme. We’re talking about a young, African-American man driving a shiny, beautiful luxury car and clad in designer clothes and watches and jewelry. Unfortunately, people in his genre become a target for law enforcement who think that lifestyle is connected to some illegal activity and that is a sad statement.
Findling exclaimed that the gun that the officer found in the vehicle actually wasn’t Offset’s but his assistant’s – who also drives the vehicle Offset was stopped in. Findling states that the assistant who the gun really belonged to has a license to carry guns in the car for protection.
