TIDAL finally released steaming information for Kanye West’s The Life Of Pablo, which was their exclusive.
They say the album was streamed 250 million times in its first ten days.
However, some have cast reasonable doubt on TIDAL’s accounting. DJBooth.net points out that the previous record for album streams belonged to Justin Bieber’s 2015 album Purpose, which did 205 million global streams on Spotify.
Spotify has 100 million subscribers (30 million paid.) Given that, it seems impossible West could do almost 50 million more than Bieber while exclusively on a service with just three million subs and in only ten days.
So the next time TIDAL decides to inflate their stats, they should try to be little more realistic.
