Twenty years after an untimely death Tupac Shakur is finally being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Arguably one of the greatest rappers to ever live, a lot of fans on social media are wondering what took so long.
Well for anyone who doesn’t know it takes 25 years after your first release to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Released in 1991 2pacalypse is officially 25 years old. The west coast MC’s nomination came this past October, along with Joan Baez, Yes, Pearl Jam, Journey and Light Orchestra.
Although Pac is the first solo hip hop artist to be inducted, he stands in line behind 5 other hip hop acts who were inducted before him. Those artist are Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Public Enemy, and NWA.
Seems like nowadays you can’t mention Tupac’s name with out someone mentioning Biggie Smalls. After a long televised fued that left both artist dead, one of the greatest debates in Hip Hop is whose better. Well, all real Biggie fans should know that his first album Ready to Die wasn’t realeased until 1994, three years after 2pacalypse, so it’s only natural that Tupac be inducted first.
