You might’ve heard the name before featured on a popular DMX track A’Yo Kato which featured after DMX’s popular Where The Hood At hit single. The track constructed by the Dark Man X that lived on his Grand Champ album was a dedication a friend Rudy Rangel Jr. Aka King Kato. Rangel was from Chicago and was a leader of the city’s Latin King set. Rangel was murdered 2003 in while in a barbershop by a rival gang member. There’s even been industry stories passed around that the Rangel had a close call with New York rapper Ja Rule during his heated beef with DMX. Legend has it that Rangel was ready to take Ja Rule’s life at a Chicago airport until it was called off by X.
Recently Fat Joe stopped by DJ Kay Slay’s Street Sweeper Radio on Shade 45 to promote his single So Excited. Though, after several minutes of conversation during the interview Joe would drop a bomb stating that he was trying to do a movie on the life of Rudy Rangel Jr. Aka Kato. Fat Joe & DJ Kay Slay would exchange dope stories speaking on the legendary Chicago gangster.
