On the same day, just hours apart of the passing of XXXTentacion, Hip-Hop was struck with another hard loss with Pittsburgh newcomer Jimmy Wopo. The 21-year-old rapper was murdered in Pittsburgh’s Hill District area when he was shot in the face by an unknown assailant.
Now to make the news even more devastating, fellow Pittsburgh rapper Wiz Khalifa revealed he was in the process of signing Jimmy Wopo to his Taylor Gang imprint. He would speak on the passing of Jimmy Wopo during his interview on Ebro’s Beats 1 Radio Show. “Jimmy Wopo is a younger at from the Burg, and he’s so super talented. He had such a big wave just from his music and where he’s from. He’s from the Hill. That’s always been a rowdy area. They really get behind everybody, but it’s crazy over there,” Khalifa would state.
He would add, “We were actually signing Jimmy Wopo. He was gonna be signed to Taylor Gang. We were gonna take him on tour with us this summer. That was gonna be his debut.”
