It was nearly 18 years ago when Hip-Hop suffered a huge loss in the killing of Run-DMC DJ and Hip-Hop icon, Jam Master Jay. After years of his murder being unsolved, the family of Jam Master Jay (born Jason Mizell), will now possibly receive justice after two men were arrested in connection to his murder.
The acting U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Seth DuCharme, announced at a press conference that Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington had been charged with the murder of Mizell. Though, he decided not to go into detail on what brought about the charges against the men he stated, “today we begin to answer that question, who killed Jason Mizell and why.”
Newly filed court documents say that the killing stems from a drug deal gone bad. According to prosecutors, Mizell participated in trafficking cocaine across state lines. Mizell allegedly had 10 kilograms of cocaine in his possession that Washington was supposed to sell in Maryland. However, Mizell informed Washington that he was being cut from the deal, which in turn lead to Washington and Jordan conspiring to kill Mizell in retalation. The two would then enter a Jamacia Queens studio the night of the killing and “ultimately executed Mizell,” according to court documents.
