In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, KFC is wanting customers to keep their fingers out of their mouth; dropping their famous ‘finger lickin’ slogan. The slogan which was coined over 64 years ago just ‘doesn’t feel quite right’ according to the KFC brand.
“We find ourselves in a unique situation — having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, global chief marketing officer at KFC. Though, despite the public health safety measures the company says motivated the decision, it’s still no less a marketing campaign. Made all the more apparent by the recent YouTube video, the company released blurring out the slogan on billboards and other branded items.
