If you’re an avid watcher of Snoop Dogg interviews then you’ve probably heard the story about Tupac and Nas in Central Park. Snoop always depicted the story as Shakur pressing the Queensbridge rapper while being unaware that they were outnumbered by Nas’ goons. Now for the first time ever Nas has given his side of the story via Hot 97.
The incident took place in 1996 during the height of the East Coast/West Coast beef; right before Pac was gunned down in Las Vegas. “I heard Snoop tell the story a few times, but he had it wrong a little bit,” Nas would state. “Pac was in New York and there was a lot of tension.” Nas would on to say, “Where I was coming from really wasn’t an all love place ’cause there was a rumor Makaveli was coming out, so I really wanted to check the temperature with him. At that point we had to address the situation because they was in the city and we had to step to our business.” Lastly he would state, “We had a great convo., He thought I was dissing him on the song ‘The Message’, with the “fake thugs no love line.”
Nas would explain to Pac that he wasn’t dissing him at all and that would be the end of that.
